Movie Night is operated by David Maillard. This page explains which data the app uses for your account, lists, and notifications.

The data controller is David Maillard. For any question, contact support or email .
Data we process
Account
Depending on how you sign in: email address, display name, profile photo if the provider sends it, Apple or Google identifiers, and a phone number if you sign in with SMS. Passwords are not stored in plain text: they are handled by Firebase Authentication.
App content
Your lists (names, added titles, TMDB identifiers, dates added), your watch progress (movies and episodes marked as watched), and your notification preferences.
Public lists
If you publish a list with Movie Night Plus, a public snapshot is created: the list name, TMDB titles, and posters. Your watch progress is never published. Anyone with the link can view this page without an account. You can unpublish at any time from the app. Plus is not required to import a copy.
Notifications
If you enable alerts, a notification token (APNs / FCM) is tied to your account so we can send reminders (new episodes, today’s airings).
On-device data
A local copy of your lists and watch progress, plus an image cache, so the app works offline or faster. This data stays on your device.
Why we use it
- create and secure your account;
- sync your lists and watch progress across devices;
- show movie and TV details;
- publish, if you ask, a public snapshot of a list;
- send the notifications you chose;
- answer a support request.
We do not sell your data and we do not show targeted ads.
Third-party services
Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, and notifications. Google may process technical connection data under its own policies.
Apple and Google — if you sign in with these accounts, they send us the information you allow (often email and name). Apple also handles the Movie Night Plus subscription (StoreKit). We receive a signed transaction token to enable Plus on your account, without storing your payment details.
The Movie Database (TMDB) — the app queries TMDB for titles, seasons, posters, and dates. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. See their policy.
reCAPTCHA — used for some sign-in flows (magic link, SMS) to limit abuse.
Retention
Account, list, and watch-progress data is kept while the account exists. Notification tokens are updated while alerts stay enabled. After account deletion, related data is removed from our servers, except where a temporary legal retention duty applies.
Your rights
You can request access, correction, or deletion of your data, including account deletion. Contact us: we will delete the account, lists, watch progress, and related tokens.
You can also withdraw notification consent in Settings, or sign out. The image cache can be cleared from the app (Settings → Image cache).
Children
Movie Night is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
This page may be updated. The date at the top is the source of truth. For a material change, we will update this page.
